Craps Betting Rules

For inexperienced players the craps game may seem to be a little bit complicated cause there are so many craps betting sections on the table. Actually they are repeated and each craps player should just learn several types of bets to become a good player. So bear in mind that the dice game is the round game. The initial throw is the Come out roll and the number of the rounds in the game depends on its results. In case number 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 comes out in the initial shot the round is finished. When other result occurs, it is a Point and dice must be re-rolled.

Pass Line Bets:

These bets must be placed in the Come out roll and when a 7 or 11 falls out the bet wins, but if a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled on the dice the bet is loser. When the point was thrown and it comes out again before a 7 the bet wins. According to the craps betting rules, the payout on this bet is 1 to 1.

Buying the Odds:

After the point falls out the dice player may make the Odds bet. As the craps betting rules state Odds bet is an extra bet that the point comes out again before 7. The possibility that the point falls out again is smaller than 50% that’s why if it happens the gambler gets more than he risks. The payout on a 4 or 10 is 2-to-1, on a 5 or 9 the payout is 3 to 2 and on number 6 or 8 it is 6 to 5.

Don’t Pass Bets:

Unlike the Pass Line, Don't Pass bet is winning if a 2 or 3 is thrown on the Come out roll, in case number 7 or 11 is thrown on the dice the it is losing 12 on the dice is the push. As the craps betting rules state when the point is rolled the dice are rerolled until the same point or a 7 occurs. If number 7 is rolled on the dice earlier than the point the gambler is winner. In fact the Don’t Pass bet is the bet against the casino and the dice player who places this bet is called a "wrong" bettor.

Laying the Odds:

Laying odds bets are in fact the opposite to buying odds bets, it means that the gamblers wager that a 7 is rolled on the dice before the point. If this bet happens to win according to the craps betting rules the payout is 1-to-2 on a 4 or 10, 2/1 on number 5 or 9, and 5 to 6 on number 6 or 8 coming up.

Come Line Bets:

Pass Line and Come Line bets have some common features and they may be performed at any round. Again the player may bet on the odds in case the point occurs on the dice.

Don’t Come Bets:

Unlike the Come Line, this type of bets occurs to win in case number 2 or 3 is rolled and losing in case a 7 or 11 appears on the dice. But when a 12 comes out on the dice this is the "tie". According to the craps betting rules one of the rest numbers on the dice constitutes the Come Point and the dice must be rolled again. Then when a 7 comes out first the craps player is winner yet in case the same point number comes out before a 7 he is loser.

Place Number Bets:

These bets are to be made on a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 and in case these numbers come up on the dice before a 7 the craps player is winner. Place Number bets resemble the odds and according to the craps betting rules they may be removed at any moment the player wants. The payout is 9 to 5 on a 4 or 10, 7 to 5 on a 5 or 9, and 7 to 6 on a 6 or 8 falling out. In case this bet is winner the gambler gets the winnings and the original bet.

Buy Bets:

Buy bets resemble the previous craps betting type though the basic difference is the payout. When you choose this type of bet the casino charges you 4% commission and if the bet wins you are paid 2/1 on a 4 and 10, 3/2 on a 5 and 9, 6/5 on a 6 and 8 falling out.

Lay Bets:

As the Place bet this bet is to be made on a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 but it is winner when number 7 appears before one of these numbers you wagered on. Again the dice player is to pay 4% commission and in case the this bet happens to win the fair odds are paid out. As the craps betting rules state fair odds are 1 to 2 on a 4 or 10 on the dice, 2 to 3 on a 5 and 9, 5 to 6 on a 4 or 8.

Hardways :

According to the craps betting rules, Hardways bets are to be placed on hard 4, 6, 8 or 10. So the craps player bets that the pair of twos, threes, fours or fives will be rolled on the dice before number 7 or another combination that totals 4, 6, 8 or 10. The payout is 7/1 on a hard 4 or 10, or 9 to 1 on a hard 6 and 8 coming out.

Big 6:

Betting that a 6 is thrown before a 7. According to the craps betting rules the payout is 1/1.

Big 8:

Betting that number 8 falls out earlier than a 7. The payout on this bet is even money or 1 to 1.

The Proposition Bets:

According to the craps betting rules these bets are one-roll bets which are placed on definite number and the payoffs on these bets vary from 30/1 to even money or 1-to-1.
